Teacher Title Abstract Course
Rav Tamir Granot "These Are the Words…" This week we begin reading and studying Sefer Devarim. Endless commentary has attempted to understand the status and special role of this fifth book of the Torah in relation to its predecessors. Parshat HaShavua - The Weekly Torah Reading
Rav Tamir Granot Remembrance of the Revelation at Mount Sinai in Moshe's Speech What is new here in Moshe Rabbeinu's speech, what did he stress and emphasize, what did he add and what did he omit, in relation to the original account in the book of Shemot, that is meaningful for all generations? Parshat HaShavua - The Weekly Torah Reading
Rav Tamir Granot You Shall Make For Yourself an Ark of Wood In this shiur we shall compare the command to fashion the second set of tablets, as described by Moshe, and the original narrative in Sefer Shemot. To my mind, the differences between the two versions are fundamental in nature, and point to the essence of each of the two accounts. We will see that the contradiction between the two descriptions of Moshe’s second ascent of the mountain to receive the tablets is an expression of two different theological approaches that are reflected in Sefer Shemot, on the one hand, and Sefer Devarim, on the other. Parshat HaShavua - The Weekly Torah Reading
Rav Tamir Granot The Kohanim, the Levi'im The question of the relationship between the various branches of public authority is discussed at length by Chazal, and their understanding of it is rooted in some explicit verses in the Torah. Parshat HaShavua - The Weekly Torah Reading
Rav Tamir Granot The Covenant of Sinai vs. the Covenant at the Plains of Moav The Torah describes two covenants that were forged between God and the nation of Israel - the covenant of Sinai, and the covenant at the plains of Moav (Devarim 28:69) This shiur will explore the separate significance of each covenant, thereby attempting to understand why the Torah provided two covenants rather than one. Rav Tamir Granot "That This Song May Answer Before Them Forever" The song of Haazinu is relatively brief, and its principal messages are, no doubt, familiar to most of us. Nevertheless, in order to ensure a basic common denominator, let us review some of the main themes that appear in the song, especially those that uniquely characterize this text.
