The shiur will deal with episode of the pagan altars that were built by Shlomo HaMelekh (Melakhim ch. 11). The question that we will address is obvious: what happened? What went wrong that caused the builder of the Mikdash to erect pagan altars a few years after he built Beit Hamikdash? Though the question is plain and simple, the answers and theories are not. The shiur will seek to understand Shlomo's motivation and to suggest the dynamic that caused his grave error.
